Our policy on compassion

We value generosity.

Therefore our priority is a Kingdom lifestyle of honesty, integrity and good stewardship of our time and resources.

The Bible commands us to remember the poor (Gal 2:10), emphasizes that part of that responsibility is to look after our own Church members (Gal 6:10), but also challenges Christians to endeavour to acquire employment and provide for their families (2 Thess. 3.10, 1 Tim. 5.8).

The purpose of the Guidelines below are to demonstrate that any assistance given by Karen Vineyard Church is done with Biblical integrity and good stewardship.
Guidelines

1) The policy is meant to address the needs within Karen Vineyard Church (KVC). As such, the recipients of assistance provided by KVC will be those who have regularly attended KVC for a at least a year.

2) KVC does not lend money.

3) KVC provides assistance for temporary situations or crises. KVC does not provided assistance for on-going projects, business debts or developments but primarily for personal or family related matters.

4) Assistance by KVC is intended as a source of last resort, to be used when the potential recipient has explored all other possibilities of help from family, saving, or investments and has explored with KVC leadership areas of potential income enhancement and cost saving.

5) Potential recipients who will not provide full financial disclosure including assistance from sources other than KVC will not be considered.

6) KVC reserves the right to have direct contact with any person who may be directly related or involved with the potential recipient of a request.

7) KVC reserves the right to provide assistance by making a payment directly to the source of the need rather than to the potential recipient.

8) KVC will not provide help to anyone who, in its estimation, will have negative or irresponsible behavior reinforced by financial help.

9) KVC may require the person requesting assistance to attend a financial counseling course, seminar, or other form of financial education.

10) KVC’s Rehema Ministry team shall be the first point of referral for such internal congregational requests for assistance. Application forms are available at the Usher's Table outside the church hall.

Back to School

We have several Sudanese young men who have been faithful members of the congregation.  Many of them eagerly desired to continue educations which had been interrupted by war and displacement.

The Rehema ministry decided it could provide bursaries and coordinate the extra giving of individual church members to help six of these young men continue their education.

Some of the boys are attending Eor-Ekule School near Narok town. The others got to Muguga School near Limuru.

We look forward to reports from them at the end of the school year. In the meantime, please uphold them in your prayers.
