Church Secretary Graham Silcock, who also serves as secretary to the Association of Vineyard Churches in Kenya, has been working on a draft constitution for the Association.
The legal registration of the church in Kenya requires that all the churches in the Association submit to the same Constitution and Bye-Laws, so Graham has been negotiating with the leaders of the Association, the Registrar and our advisory partners in the Vineyard in the US, South Africa, England and Scotland.
The first draft of the new Constitution is under review, and will then be submitted to the Registrar of Associations in the Government of Kenya. The Registrar may require changes before approving it.
The Constitution mandates the membership, style and performance of Vineyard churches across Kenya, in addition to setting the rules for the Association and its officers. It governs the appointment of pastors, leaders and officers, explain the relationship between elders, pastors, ministry leaders and the congregation, and establish rules about the handling of money and property.
Once the draft is approved by the AVC and our worldwide Vineyard pastors, we will make a copy available on the website.
