Rahab Hides The Spies (Joshua 2) - By Patrick Mbugua
This past Sunday, we journeyed through Joshua 2, where we met Rahab, the unlikely heroine whose courage and faith secured her a place in God's redemptive story. Though labeled a harlot and living in a city destined for destruction, Rahab chose to believe in the God of Israel. Her bold faith not only spared her family but also positioned her in the lineage of Christ.
The message was clear: God uses the unexpected to accomplish the extraordinary. As Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 1:27, “God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise…” Rahab’s story reminds us that no past is too dark, no reputation too broken for God to redeem and use for His glory. In contrast to Israel’s earlier failure in Numbers 25, where they fell into sin at Shittim, Rahab’s faith at the same location becomes a powerful symbol of hope and turnaround. It’s a reminder that your past doesn’t disqualify you, your response to God does. Just like Rahab, Paul, and countless others in Scripture, we are called not by our titles or qualifications, but by God's grace. Let this encourage you: It’s not who you are or what you’ve done, it’s who God is and what He can do through a willing heart. Missed the Message?
